Thanya Institute of learning was founded in 1999 by late Mr Nyabela Michael Jethro Pelle and Mrs Thandi Johanna Pelle ( Director). They decided to make a brighter future for blacks by starting a school which is Thanya Institute of Learning.
Where does this name come from? They opted for the name Thanya which is the prefix of Mrs Pelle “Thandi” and Mr Pelle “Nyabela” Tha+ Nya. Thanya Institute of Learning is a home to most black people, even though the founder Mr Pelle is no more it is still growing every day.
The couple planted a seed , now the tree is still growing and we are enjoying the fruits.
Education must be elevated from being a departmental issue into a social matter. QLTC is a social compact between education department, stakeholders and communities. We strive to achieve the below:
Leaders must be involved consistently through all phases of the programme – on equal basis
Shared organisation for implementation and success, transparency and joint decision making by all stakeholders.
Success for the programme must rest on equity being applied across all areas of society- gender, race, class, literacy and even health status.
Quality must be achieved in all components of a successful teaching and learning.
Communities and other stakeholders are consulted and contributing to a particular programme and able to define and control their own developments.
We have a highly qualified team of management, administrative and teaching staff.
